Social and Emotional Development
Welcome to our school's dedicated page on Social and Emotional Learning. At our school, we firmly believe that social and emotional development is just as important as academic development. We recognise that supporting our pupils at every opportunity to overcome their SEMH barriers is crucial, and we strive to provide them with every chance to succeed.
To ensure our efforts are targeted and informed by the best science and evidence regarding social and emotional development, we have adopted the Thrive Approach. The Thrive Approach is a well-established programme that focuses on supporting children's emotional well-being, enabling them to engage fully with their learning and social interactions. By implementing the Thrive Approach, we aim to create a nurturing and supportive environment that fosters positive social and emotional growth.
In addition to the Thrive Approach, we have developed something called the SURE Framework. This framework is based on the best science and evidence, drawing from research conducted by the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF). The EEF has identified key competencies and skills that are vital for strong social and emotional development in pupils. Through the SURE Framework, we provide targeted interventions and strategies to help our pupils develop these essential skills.
