Preparation for Adulthood

Overview

As outlined in the Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Code of Practice, Preparation for Adulthood (PfA) is a key focus area for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities. It encompasses the support and guidance provided to individuals as they transition into adulthood, with a particular emphasis on education, employment, independent living, community inclusion, and health and wellbeing. 

At Gilbert Ward Academy, we understand our responsibility to prepare our pupils for adulthood. Through our holistic approach and individualised support, we empower our pupils to achieve their full potential in education, employment, independent living, community inclusion, and health and wellbeing. Our dedicated staff, educational offer, and collaborative partnerships ensure that our pupils receive the necessary tools and guidance to thrive as they transition into adulthood.
