First Meeting of the School Council
Return to Latest NewsThis year marks the establishment of the Gilbert Ward Academy Student Council. Each tutor group elected a representative to attend regular meetings. The aim of the council is to give students a voice, sharing their opinions and ideas, as well as developing their leadership skills. At their first meeting this week, students proudly received their own Student Council ID badges.
During this initial meeting, members reflected on the year's accomplishments, highlighting the newly adapted timetable. This allows them to enjoy weekly swimming sessions, Forest School activities, community visits, as well as their regular lessons.
Council members also shared ideas for resources they'd like to see at the school, ranging from more LEGO sets, to the more ambitious request of a climbing wall. Students eagerly anticipate the next meeting and the response from school leaders regarding their proposals.
