Science Adventures: Float, Fall and Flicker
Return to Latest News
This term in Science, pupils have been busy working scientifically with two exciting investigations. In their Forces topic, pupils explored how the surface area of a parachute affects the time it takes to fall. They planned, carried out, and evaluated a fair test, drawing accurate conclusions about air resistance and surface area.
Other pupils learning about Light investigated how the distance from a light source affects the size of a shadow. They used torches and opaque objects to create and measure shadows, then drew conclusions using scientific diagrams and precise data collection. Both investigations encouraged careful planning, collaborative working, and some brilliant discussions around predictions, variables, and how to improve experiments.
A fantastic half-term of practical science.
