Gilbert Ward Academy Opens to Pupils
Return to Latest NewsProsper Learning Trust are proud to announce that Gilbert Ward Academy is opening their new building to pupils this week, commencing Monday 29th January 2024.
Gilbert Ward Academy is a purpose-built, state-of-the-art school on Princess Louise Road in Blyth, Northumberland. Pupils are currently being educated in a nearby site and will be moved into the new building which features a wide range of educational facilities including an art and design room, a science lab, a food technology room, therapy rooms, and a separate hall and dining room.
Gilbert Ward Academy is a special school for children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The school will be able to provide education for up to 80 children aged 11-16 to meet the increased demand within the Northumberland special school system.
Prosper Learning Trust CEO Chris Richardson and Gilbert Ward Academy Headteacher Barry Reed were given the keys to the new building on Friday 26th January.
