Gilbert Ward Academy’s First Assembly Marks Remembrance Day
Return to Latest NewsThis week, we held our very first assembly at Gilbert Ward Academy, and it was a moment of reflection and respect as we marked Remembrance Day. The assembly provided an opportunity for our pupils to come together as a community to honour those who have served and sacrificed.
A highlight of the event was our Remembrance Board, which became a focal point of the assembly. Pupils created beautiful paper wreaths and poppies, as well as thoughtful written pieces, all of which reflected their personal perspectives on remembrance. After observing a respectful two-minute silence, pupils came forward to pin their work onto the board, demonstrating their understanding and respect in a deeply meaningful way.
This assembly was a testament to the creativity and thoughtfulness of our pupils, and we are incredibly proud of the effort they put into commemorating this important day. It also marked the beginning of what we hope will become a tradition of meaningful assemblies at Gilbert Ward Academy.
We look forward to building on the success of this first assembly and continuing to create opportunities for our pupils to engage with important themes and values throughout the year.
